Sarah is a retiree from Ontario that was spending a few months at her winter home in Arizona when she slipped and fell on her back porch after a rainstorm. Unfortunately, when she fell, she fractured both of the bones in her forearm.
She spent the next eight weeks in a series of slings and casts provided by the local hospital and was diagnosed with ulna and radial fractures. After the cast was removed her wrist and forearm movements were extremely limited and weak. This is when she began to look for physiotherapy treatment. Sarah was still in Arizona and wanted to begin her treatment but didn’t want to switch providers when her time down South was going to end. This is why she called us at iClick Physiotherapy. Through our unique virtual assessment and treatment platform she was able to easily access her treatment while she was still in Arizona. She was also able to claim the expense through her private health insurance in Ontario and then continue with treatment when she returned to Canada. Her treatment consisted of education, exercises, self mobilizations and massage in order to restore her range of motion and progress to functional activities.
Over a two month period she regained the mobility in her wrist and forearm and eventually built up the strength. Her story is a great success and I’m happy to report that Sarah is back in Arizona, her accident is a distant memory and she has also purchased some non-slip mats for the porch. If you are like Sarah and have a permanent residency in Canada or become injured while traveling, we can help by providing physiotherapy treatment from Canadian therapists while you are out of the country. Our treatment is covered by most private insurance plans and can be direct billed if required.
